After running perfectly this weekend, today the bike started acting up a little. Every once in awhile my oil warning light comes on. Just for a minute or so and then goes out. I have checked the oil level and it is ok. On occasion the battery warning light has also come on. Once again only for a minute or so and then it goes out. I am not sure where to start and any suggestions would be appreciated.

Would first check battery (load test...no meter..some auto stores will test it for free)

Ckeck voltage out put at idle and at 2500/3000 rpm
Whens the last time you cleaned all the wire connectors and grounds?

Think XJ oil light is a oil height indicator and not a pressure related.
Would check it's wireing and connectors too.

      Water

Check water level in battery. Mine did that ant it was low on water i think that is what the battery sensor is for. And as MRO said check oil level and/or change oil.
      Thanks Tom

Thanks, I will check it out this weekend. Will probably do an oil change also.

My oil light would do that also... kind of annoying having that red light flash at you... reach up turn it off.. only to have it flash at you again after a while. I finally just disconnected my wire going to it. I get the initial fail on my oil and battery (There's a fix in here for that, just haven't done it). I hit the button and it doesn't flash any more. Maybe an option until you can get it fixed or replace the oil indicator. Maybe just cleaning up the contact will help you.. it didn't for me.

Thanks for the help. If the oil change doesn't work, I will check into the contacts. Hopefully it is something simple. I have been riding alot lately and don't want to stop.
