i am trying to tune my bike and i am getting very frustrated. i was wondering if other owners could tell me what size jets (pilot, main, ect.), mixture screw settings and what mods you have done i.e. exaust, pod airfilter, ignition ect. my bike has a MAC 4 to 2 exaust with APE pod air filters, accel ignition ignition coils. what jets should i start with?

Here's the guidelines I use:
Tuning CV Carbs
Has worked on my 78 with K&N in stock airbox, Jardine 4 into 2 'spagetti pipes', and Dyna coils. I ended-up going 1 size up on the main jets (sorry, I don't remember the number), one notch up on the needle, and stock pilot jets. I color-tuned to 'slightly' rich on the idle mixture.
My 80 MNS is about ready to go thru the same process. It has 1196 bigbore kit, K&N in stock airbox, (RC Engineering I was told) 4 into 1 with SuperTrapp tunable exhaust, stock coils. I did already bump up the main jets from 110 (all the way across) to 125's. Bike's running very strong but needs valve adjustment.Pat Kelly

79 Special with MAC 4-1 header, pod filters, Dyna coils and Accel stainless wires. Main jets are 145, pilots are 42.5, floats are at 27MM (Dont have my spec sheet with me so I am guessing on the floats). Idle mixture screws are running about 1 3/4 turns out but, you must adjust to your individual machine. I run one heat range hotter on the spark plugs. Stock NGK is BP6ES and I run BP5ES.
Same basic setup worked for me with a Jardine 4-2 exhaust system except that I ran 142.5 main jets.Mike Giroir

Once you un-can a can of worms, the only way to re-can them is with a bigger can.
