    1980 Yamaha XS11 SG Midnight Special black

    and 1980 LG both where midnight specials with different parts on them

      I think the pic is mis-labeled. It appears to be mostly an LG but has aftermarket exhaust.

      My LG (Midnight Special) has all gold or black chrome, and my SG (Special) has silver chrome.

        Hey, you're right there, Rockjok. I posted that photo a long time ago, before I fully understood the naming conventions. I need to see how to go about changing that label.

          There were only two Midnights

          The LG in 80 and the LH in 81. I was looking at the daylight specials at the time and when the LG hit the market I just couldn't resist. They cost quite a bit more then their daylight cousins but you have to admit it was and still is quite a good looking bike. Too bad father time has taken it's toll on the black chrome and gold parts over the years.
