  • New Addition 2 Da Stable

Here's my new addition...dubbed "Time Machine". This one is truly a blast from the past. I bought it from the original owner who got it new in '79. He kept it in a garage and only rode it to church on Sundays... .

This baby is slicker than snot on a brass door knob. 11,500 miles and totally stock except for the jardine slip-ons. The OEM mufflers rusted out years ago and he replaced them.

    And now......THE TIME MACHINE.......

Yes Tommy it's Tygon. I started using that stuff last year and I'm not going back. It's absolutely the finest fuel line made.

aco - Twas a mere 12 Bens. That would be about 1446 in Oz.

If I can get away I hope to ride it to Andrews going away party in Hurst. Today the Time Machine will be on the Dyno. Primarily to check F/A mixture. But I'll post the results here. The only modifaction to this bike is the airbox has 25 3/8" hole in the bottom of it and the Jardine slip-ons. So I'm sure it will fall into the 75-80 hp range.

However whne I check the pumping compression the bike had 181 to 190 psi on all 4. Really high...so I suspected carbon build up. I took a small flexible diffuser light and slipped it into the chamber to see. They were all very clean so I guess the early Elevens had high compression but I wouldn't think by that much.

                    Keep ya posted.

                      Wow, what a beauty!

Looks like the only thing you'll need to do is tune 'er up and ride.

Warmed the bike up and it turned up 79 ponies. Not bad for a stock '79. But it was fat on top and lean in the mid section. We raised the needles and dropped the mains down to 130 to get it right on. Then the bike made 81 rwhp. If I had a good 4-1 exhaust this machine would likely make 85+.

Wow 11500 miles, cam & hyvo chains aren't even worn, 130 mains seems low, drilled box 140's & K&N could hit 90 or more with that 4-1, see the 78 testers getting impressive 11 sec 1/4's at 115 mph on the line out of stock bikes

130 mains ARE low. It's those Jardine mufflers.

If I could find a slick 4-1 I might do it. But the only one I'm really interested in is a chrome Supertrapp. And those are rare indeed.
