  • finally got my ride running, but still need more help !!! help

My story was i just bought my xs1100 it wasn"t running. The guy i bought it from said it had been sitting since last year. One of the you fine guys on this site suggested seafoam, great stuff !!!!!!!!!
IT is very hard to find in canada but our napa stores up here carry it .Thats for all you canadian bikers .I drained the floats of all the bad gas and the tank lots of particals.I put fresh gas in with the seafoam took a few times, but once i put the carbs to prime it fired up sputtered and died.fired it up again ran like a shee devil in heat. The bad news is gas is pouring out the carbs,do they need to be diassembled and cleaned our could i try spraying carb cleaner in the throttle body while its running.any suggestions guys.help !!!!!!!!!! also the oil cooler might be leaking i "m not sure but it looks like gunk on the end of the lines is this common ?

    any help please guys
    thanks blackdawg

Carbs may not be dirty, but need to be disassembled to have the float needles replaced. They are either worn, or have some grit from the tank holdin' them open. Put inline fuel fulters in the fuel lines. If you're so inclined, remove the tank and remove the petcocks to see if the "debris" screens are still on the towers.
Get some "Brakleen" and spray the ends of your oil lines to clean them. Keep an eye on them and see if you have oil leaking.

The oil leak is probably from the rubber plug at the end of the camchain tensioner, or from a leaky valvecover gasket. Both of these problems are very common.
