  • ?? About getting rid of kick starter shaft

    Hi All,
I am putting my engine back together and wondering is it allright to just take the kick starter shaft out or is there something else that needs to be done inside when it is gone? I was thinking of removing the shaft assembly and machining an sholdered aluminum plug with a gasket and bolting it in from the back side. I do not have a kick starter and probably never will so not having the shaft sticking out is of no big deal and one less place for the slippery stuff to come out.
    Any reasons why I can't?

Just pop out the removable parts under the clutch cover and replace the engine cover shaft oil seal with a seal / PLUG that is still available .
