    Take a look here
    http://www.xs11.com/tips/misc/misc2.shtml

    I've several XSes.
Have never bought one that was running tho.
If uncertain what your looking at, would ask someone who does that you trust to check it out.

        buying an 1100

Take a spin and if it runs without missing, backfiring or excessive vibration, it should be OK. Depends how much you want to pay for it. I would not pay more than 800 bucks for what you describe. I would take it to a motorcycle mechanic at a Yamaha dealer and have him/her look it over for safety reasons 1st.

I have a 1980 XS 1100 that runs like new, had 18,000 on it when I bought it for $1,000.

I spend 1000 for my special on 02 with 25k on it, now it has 73k on it, and I don't regret it at all.

If you like the bike, it runs well and feel the price it right, then get it. If you wait for the perfect deal, you might never get one at all.
I've been in more than one Hemisphere, and I wrote a book to help you do it too (or just prepare better for that week long road trip). Going Small, not just for the little guys.

I agree with Pain. People get better deals on these bikes, but they aren't on every corner. This time of year, just about ANY running bike will bring that.. but with this one.. you get a family too!

I paid 1,000 for mine and it was in pretty bad shape. I don't regret it at all.

Try your hardest to be the kind of person your dog thinks you are.

You can live to be 100, as long as you give up everything that would make you want to live to be 100!
