    Positive vote

    Mine work perfect!
They have to be cleaned thouroughly after use, though.
There are different types of colourtune plugs. The ones I got have the electrode protruding into the cylinder head, not recessed.
XS1100 and XS650- what do you need more?

      color tune

The reply's have been real strong for those who are totally
sold on the color tune and the negative feed back is just as
      strong on their positions.

Is there any chance both sides are dealing with the same models and if we could factor that in--we might have some closure on this.

For example, on e-bay there are 4 different models up for bid.
A couple are Grunson and a couple are made in the U. K. The ones made in the U.K. specifically mention that.
Is it possible that all the negative feed back is from owners of ones made in the U.K. and the positive is from those who own
a Grunson model? (which I don't know where they are made.)

I have the Gunson Colortune for motorcycles. It has the recessed electrode. I'm very happy with it, unlike some others apparently. It would be nice to have a colortune plug configuration the same as a BPR6ES, but this tool is made for 95% of motorcycles. I've actually been thinking about Gunson's 4 plug kit. Perhaps the dissatisfied users want to sell theirs? I only need three more...

I've been using the Morgan Colortune from Britain for quite a few years and it has never let me down. It always shows flame unless the tip of a pilot screw is broken off in the orifice, or if the screw has been adjusted too lean, or if the pilot circuit is plugged. If the orifice is clear, and the circuit is clear, and the needle is anywhere close to proper range, there will be a flame. I have actually looked in and watched the spark alone with no flame, but only because no fuel is getting in there to burn. In all the time I've owned mine, I think I have only cleaned it once and that was because the sight window got dirty, not the "electrode".

          YMMV

            Morgan

I too own the Morgan Colortune and have had no problems with it. It allowed me to dial my carbs in on idle. As I stated previously it is an invaluable tool to me as well as the sync tool.

I also have a Gunson Colortune 500. It was the only way I could set the idle mixture on the XJ650. It just would not run smooth under 3500 rpms, it would just cough sputter and die and was impossible to start. The PO put after markrt pipes on it and really guffed up the carbs trying to get it to run. The colortune was the only thing that gave me a point of reference to set the mixture. After using the colortune and a set of carb sticks it runs very well.

                  cajun31,

What do you think of my proposition of you color tuning my bike
and I pay you for it?
