• Yamaha fairing wiring

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a Yamaha faring on a 8oSG. Po cut and spliced wiring in faring to wire up a radio. Someone stole radio out of fairing and they just yanked wiring out.
Got bike to start today but need to take carbs back off and pre sync them, got in too big of hurry to hear it run. Also small o ring and washer in pilot jet, do they need to be in there. Po had carbs apart and lost some of them. Where can i get OEM fork seals for 80SG. Local dealer is rip off artist. Sign in shop says won't work on anything older than 1995.
Thanks Tom

Fork seals - you can get the OEM's from bikebandit.com. Many of us have used both OEM and "leakproof"...leakproof is anything but, while the OEMs keep trucking for years without problem.

As for the fairing - I believe they were either made by Vetter or at least used a Vetter set of wires. Take a look at this:

I've got a Yamaha fairing sitting at my brother's house that I can double check with, but I won't be up that way for a couple weeks.

Small o-ring and washer in pilot jet??? Am I reading this correctly? Are you sure we are talking about the pilot and not the main jet?

Wiring

If is the same as a Vetter i have a Vetter on my 82XJ and i have the wiring diagram for that. As for the small o ring it is the the screw that is on top and in front of carb that can be adjusted from the outside. The one with the pointed end that can be broke off if not careful.
Thanks Tom

Oh, ok - the mixture screws
Like this and have the spring?

I've not yet played with later model carb mixture screws, but it *appears to me* that you should have both...a guru with the info care to chime in?

If it's the Pacifico fairing made for Yamaha I have the wiring diag for that one.

Here's a (not too good) photo of my fairing. It has the rectangular headlight and turnsignals

needles, washers & o-rings

Hi Tom,
the parts in the pic from Snow, yeah, those washers & o-rings hafta be there.
O-ring at the bottom, then the plain washer, the spring is at the top.
Check the o-ring & washer aren't still there down the hole, you can fish them out with a teensy wire hook if they are. Check the skinny needle tip isn't bust off & jammed inside the carb, that can spoil your whole day.
I was advised that 1½ turns out is a good setting to start adjusting the idle at.

Note - the early model carbs (78-79) do not have the washer and o-ring, but the point was very fine and prone to break off. The later model carbs (80-81, and XJ) do have o-rings and washers, but the point is blunt and not terribly prone to breaking off.
