  • Dyna Coils

Recently I bought Dyna Coils on eBay. They are supposed to measure 3.0 ohms between the primary wires but these consistently read 3.4 ohms, checked the same on three different multimeters. I would like to use these coils, but before I invest in wires, caps, etc., if this is the true resistance, is there any danger of damaging/destroying other components,
    TCI for example?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    coils

I used dyna coils with accell wires straight to the plugs with no resistors on my 79f... I haven't had ANY problems in 3 yrs since the swap.... I know that there is a ballast resistor on some models that affects the type of coils you have to use.....

      Hey Jim,

The stock resistance for the XJ was like you said around 3 ohms. A little more will not hurt anything! What would hurt would be if you had gotten the coils that were for a true CDI system, that are only 0.7ohms, then it would draw way too much current.

        Dyna Coils

Thanks, that's the info I needed. Now for
wires and plug caps. Any advice on that
        subject?
        Thanks,
        Jim

I would look for the GOOD racing wires. they are NOT cheap, but are wire wound, and with the matching caps, should work fine.

I used the silicone wires from Dyna on my Dyna Coils. I didn't like the plug boots so I got MSD boots.
Been working fine for 4 years now (been that long!?!?!?).

that's the old link that I used to put mine on.the power increase is way noticeable. cold starts are also much easier...no resistor boots either.....who cares if the car next to you has their cell phone/radio damaged....

I have been running Dyna 3.0 ohm coils with Accel 8.8MM Stainless wires for a few years now. They put out 35,000 volts and wires make sure all of it gets to the plugs. Like chop says, the difference is noticeable.

As you can see in the 1st pic on my tech-tip I have the 1.5 ohm and I kept the ballast resistor.
