but the cdi ignition unit is a 1979 # 2H7-10 and the wiring harness must be also..

TCI

Midnight, thru 1980 used the 2H7-10..................4R0-10 on 81's. In a pinch, both will work on early or last year XS's. Centrifical advance went bye-bye for 81 and was done through the TCI electronics..................... your TCI and wiring would be correct for that 79 bike.
