throttle lock

Is there a universal throttle lock or does it have to be one specifically for your bike?

Throttle locks are for 7/8" or 1" handle bars. They will fir almost any bike, so yes, they are "universal".

Some bikes (Honda comes to mind) use a 2-cable system for the throttle. Yamaha uses 1 cable. If you are looking for a throttle lock try to find the single-cable unit, slightly easier to fit and looks better. Twin-cable will work, but you have 2 sets of 'fingers' that go around the base of the throttle cables, one set won't be used.

Denny..... Just put one of those on my bike for a pretty long trip this summer. I've noticed a couple things that I'm wondering if you had problems with.
First, and it's not a big deal, is that the lever winds up being positioned right in front of the starter button. Kind of a pain.
Second, and of more concern, is I can't seem to get it adjusted so the throttle snaps right back like it should. I moved the grip back a little to make sure that wasn't binding and it still is not quite free. The tension is adjusted just barely tight enough to maintain set speed. What's been your experience?

NEPs make a throttle lock that works pretty good, but the handle snaps onto the pivot point and can come loose.

I solved this problem by rotating the throttle housing forward a bit.

I can't seem to get it adjusted so the throttle snaps right back like it should

It took me a while to get this right. I had to trim the rubber grip a bit and my throttle still does not snap back with the engine off. It returns, but not a snap. With the engine running, it snaps back fine.

I run mine adjusted just tight enough to hold position.

Anyone know the cheapest place for a universal throttle lock that looks like Dennyz's in the picture? I see them for about $35. Seems a bit steep to me for such a small amount of hardware.

Just got back from my trip and the vista cruise did work pretty well. The lever does however, frequently interfere with starting regardless of where I position it.
