You can jump the starter, touch the two large screws on the soleniod with a screw driver, it will turn over. If the Tci isn't getting power it isn't going to start.

Maybe the solenoid IS the problem?? Or a new ignition switch from Partsnmore pretty cheap??

Try your hardest to be the kind of person your dog thinks you are.

You can live to be 100, as long as you give up everything that would make you want to live to be 100!

          did you check?

Engine Stop Switch, (top of right hand control)
will disable starter and ignition when in "off" position or
if contacts/wiring in it are messed up.

I have not tried to by-pass keyed switch.
red wire provides power from main fuse tho.
Screw up "jumping" it could cause a melt down.

              ignition bypass 1978 standard

I have a parts bike that Looks as though it was bypassed in some way, since there was no key to it. I believe that 2 of hte wires that come out under the key switch were connected together. There is a brown wire, a blue wire and a red wire. I believe that the blue and red are now connected to each other. The rest of the wire on the bike is a mess, but that might help. If you can get the key cylinder apart and remove thet part with the key hole, you can rotate things with a screwdriver. This has come in handy when the keys where lost!

SOme models may have different wiring!

                Hey there Bwilding2000,

We can appreciate your enthusiasm as a Newb to the site, and wanting to pitch in. But you may not have noticed that there is a date stamp on the threads and posts, and this one was last replied to back in May, 2007!

Some folks are nice and will resurrect an old thread after searching, and add their NEW requests for additional help along the same subject line, instead of creating a new thread.

Again, welcome to the world of Xsives.
