  • Carb help for the new guy

I need some opinions to see if I'm doing this right ?
    I have a 1980 XS1100sg, only had the bike a few months.
When I got it the air box was drilled,I put a K&N air filter in it and it has a Kerker 4into1 header. The bike was running rough between 1000 and 3000rpms so I took the carbs off and cleaned them (had the usual problems thanks to this web site got everything fixed) My question is jetting it had 110 mains all across and I think 42.5 pilots ? So I bought 115 mains and 45 pilots. My main concern is the 45 pilots has anyone used this combination ? Anybody think it will work or not ? Any better suggestions ? Also floats are at 23mm..Waiting for one intake clamp from bikebandit to install the carbs.

    Thanks for any help
What a great Web site !

You should be OK with the jets. You may have been able to just turn the idle mixture out an extra turn or two. I would start the mixture screws out 1 1/4 turn on all 4, and tune from there.
