  • OIL/ BRAKE Light

The red light is on!!!! Oil pressure is good; measured it with a gauge, brake lights come on when using brakes;tail light works.

I disconnected the wire coming from the pressure switch right behing the fuse box. still stays on. the main fuse and its connectors get so hot that is has melted the plastic lightly. Looks to be a short to that light, since it is getting so hot.

NOW, can someone pinpoint this somehow; give me leads??!!

    Thanks Y'all

    NO........but

May find problem while checking these things....

Just to be sure, easy to test pressure switch
    (don't think is your problem)
    Disconnect wire at switch
check continuity from switch to engine
("yes" is normal with engine off)
Start engine and check agin, ( "no" continuity now)
    ------------
Oil pressure switch wire goes from oil pressure switch and "tee's" to the light on pilot box and also to a 6 prong plug that connects to the "Light Checker Unit"...

"Light Checker Unit" connects not only to lights but also to small plug on the rectifier.

Would check that these connectors are "clean" in good working condition as well as the other connectors behind fuse box and large connector at rectifier.

Then would measure voltage with engine running.
If all seems good, problem could be with the
Light Checker Unit, wiring from tail/stop light or wire from oil pressure switch (wiring once in harness can go "bad" but not likely as insulation would have to be missing from more than one wire to ground/short out)
