Just don't sell it
Why do you want to sell it?
Is it because you're all done with it? Is there another bike or ? that you'd rather have?
What was your original reason for buying the bike in the 1st place?
Any bike you have will eventually need tires and 2nd gear is no biggie, especially with the work you've already put into it.Pat Kelly

Will you get the price
I am not saying that the bike is not worth 6500, however when was the last time you saw a 28 year old yamaha anything sell for that? As was previously stated that's a lot of cash to see go poof. I would seriously reconsider saling it and just enjoy it and finish the 2nd gear fix.
Just my opinion.2 - 80 LGs bought one new

Hey MRO
Mro,
I don't believe that bike sold. The last bid was aussie 3550 and it did not meet the reserve. I would have a hard time parting with 6500 for a bike as old as these. Not that I don't love the bikes, I do.2 - 80 LGs bought one new

just bought my XS11 on saturday. I have sat on the seat and sat on the driveway next to the bike just contemplating what i'd like to do. you know, formulate the long list. this bike is exactly it. Strait down to the color. what a beautiful machine sir. Wish i had the 6,500 to lay down a bid. thank god i got away with an 800 tag.

Well, here's why I put it on the market.
I'm a single 22 year old. I have a 2002 suzuki hayabusa, a nice 1979 Ford F-150 (also on the market), a crappy POS commuter car, a mint 400hp 2000 SS camaro, and the XS. I've worked my ass off to get these "toys", and I don't owe any money on them. But doing all my own maintenance on them all is a part time job and you don't even want to know how much I spend on tax and insurance every year! I haven't even had time to do the 2nd gear fix this spring because of other obligations.
The truth is I would like some funds for my commercial license (I'm a pilot) so I can move on to a bigger and better career.
Back to the bike. I know it's a lot of cash for an old bike. When I compare it to a new harley or even a jap V-twin I think the price is a bargain! It will run circles around them all day and in my opinion look better doing it. After I get off the hayabusa and get on the XS, the XS feels like a vintage version of the busa. I can guarantee you that you couldn't do everything that I've done to my bike for less money unless you have some hookups at a chrome shop (My bill for all the chrome was almost $2,000! )
Anyways, if it doesn't sell I won't be heartbroken. $6500 is very fair for the work and parts involved in it but I realise their are very few people in the market for such a beast.1979 XS1100 Special (Chrome Queen)

Lets see.....Busa, F-150, crappy commuter car, Camaro and XS1100. Hmmmmm. Unload the commuter car and the Camaro.
Keep the XS!Mike Giroir

Once you un-can a can of worms, the only way to re-can them is with a bigger can.

Well then, I'm Jealous. not just cause of the toys but the fact that i also am 22 and single and i have another year of college left so I'm broke as ____. My toys arent quite as nice but i do love my '83 Porsche 944. I hear you on the maintenance tho. Theres always something to tweak with on either vehicle. I am actually thinking of reregistering both with custom license plates. the xs would say Nickel and the car would say dimed. I was actually going to specifically ask what the figure was on the chroming so thanks for throwin that out there. Good luck with the sale
