Oil Level Sight Glass Re & Re

Can someone tell me how to remove and replace the oil level sight glass on the clutch cover?

Can't help with the R&R, but unless it's cracked, you should be able to just clean it to get it to be able to view the oil thru?!

Carb cleaner, Q-tips and such will usually clean it up nicely!

I remember seeing a rubber O-ring, and that vented metal clip that I think holds it in place, so I would think(danger! ) it would be a matter of removing that clip, O-ring, etc.?

Hey TC .. I just scored a NOS engine clutch cover and it does not have the sight glass in it so I can ether buy those parts or do a re & re from one of the ones I have here. Would rather use one I have if I can get it out and reuse it.

Hey Rob,

The Fiche shows it as a separate part, and is still available for around $15.00. Hope you can figure out how it fits and can swap it out without breaking the one you have?? At least you know you can get another one IF it does break!

I had to remove my bulls eye to get side cover chromed. Just sanded down the ended of a one by two so it just fit the glass and tapped it out. Pressed back in very easily. And make sure you have it really clean before you put it back in again.

OK .. so it will tap out . That's good news and I will try that before I buy a new part.

Spark Plug Caps ???

OK I have just received some coils that include the original steel covered plug caps. There's 2 long and 2 short caps. Is it 2 and 3 that take the long ones or 1 and 4? I can't remember and have no pics with enough detail to tell.

The long ones go on # 2 & 3 spark plugs.
