speedos, they're not just for fat guys.

My speedo broke in the wierdest way I can think of. The long end of the needle broke off inside the housing. Anyone ever seen this before? I'm guessing a new needle is either not available, or cannot be installed. That said does anyone know where i can get an after market(read cheap) speedo that will have the right ratios and show an accurate speed with minimal installtion work?

BTW I have square guages.

Ya I thought about that, but the trip reset knob is also missing. Thought I'd replace the whole thing if possible.

Getting the lid off

Hi Casey,
removing the bezel is the hard part. TC's brief, glib description of prying the thing apart does not mention that the operation requires the skills of a watchmaker and the patience of a Saint. Having neither, I used a slitting wheel on a Dremel tool to cut the bezel into C-shaped halves then pulled them off sideways. After replacing (with Loctite!) the two screws that hold the face on, I epoxied the glass & bezel back on. This is admittedly a one-time deal but WTF, if it ever needs a second resurrection it'll get binned instead.

You should be able to get the gauge off in 30 min or so for your first time. Thats what It took me anyway. It still takes me 30 min but I just do a lot cleaner work. I would like to eventually make some kind of kismo that would hold the ring on and let it release with a couple of screws.
