  • oil pressure to cams

after a top overhaul, valves are noisey like lack of oil pressure. I dropped some gasket material in the crankcase, but tried to get it all out. Anybody have similar experience? Does that metasl oil line to the head ever get clogged?

You have a mesh screen on the bottom of your oil pump that will catch bits and pieces of gasket, clutch fiber shavings, etc... before they reach the tube. You could take off the valve cover and pull the plugs so it doesn't start and easier to turn over... then crank it and watch to make sure the oil is pumping.

I don't know what all you did to the top end, but new guides and such may be a bit tight at first. A new cam chain will also stretch the most in the beginning as it gets broke in. Make sure the cam chain is adjusted correctly. Also, on your next oil change, drop the pan and make sure the pump screen is clear of debris. The last suggestion is for you to try a different oil. This makes a huge difference sometimes.
