I'm new to the XS, the last Yamaha I owned was a RD 350. I replaced the fork seals in my XS 1100 today and while I was at it thought I would do the front brakes also. I called a local M/C parts house and asked if they had pads for my '79 XS 1100 Special, they did , I rode the Honda over to pick them up, got home and found that they were the wrong ones. We double checked the books and the #'s were right. The ones we found that fit were for a '81. Anyone know what the problem is. I know the bike is stock, I bought it from the original owner. It's not a big deal just curious.

dont know about your fork seals, but I just wanted to chime in to drool over your rd350! Im starting to look around for a two cycle roadbike, they sound like fun! I know yamaha had thier rd250 and 350, and kawsaki had thier h1 and h2's, but did honda make any of the same type?

Maybe I should look for a old 2-cycle enduro and kill two bike dreams with one stone. hehe.. you can never have enough motorcycles...

79, 80 and 81 SPECIAL all take the same pads, so do all the years of standards, unfortunatly they are not the same as each other. a standard and special have the same rear pads which are the same as the fronts on a standard. A special has an angle cut front pad. So chances are you were given the pads for a standard.
