could be forgetting something.....
10, 12 14, 19 mm wrench
screw driver with reversible shaft
handle of screw driver fits into spark plug socket
plastic bag with snap to hold tools
The oil dip stick is in deed part of the tools package. The rear tire change tool is usually stored under the flip door on the side cover. Most side covers are missing this part.

I think that the toolkit for the specials doesn't have the rear tire cable because the specials had the short exhausts so you can get the rear axle out without needing to winch up the suspension.
The special does have a cable , all it does is hold up the rear caliper . A hanger kinda thing ...
I have the supplent to the special in the back section of the 79 xs service manual . It mentions the cable there , plus the parts list has a p/n listed for it.
I could be wrong as this is what it seems from the clues ...

And i'm not a guru ...

Hate bringing up old threads but for clarifications sake they must have stopped putting the wire in the specials toolkit starting in 1980, because I never had one and have owned the bike and kit since new.

If I could add my two cents....
this is a picture I got of ebay of a suposably complete tool kit. It has some more allen wrenches and the tool needed to hook the wire on the swing arm for changing the rear wheel.
Hey Bob just checked the garage I have a tool kit from a yamaha snowmobile. Some of the tools are the same some are not. If you want them I will ship them to you.
Also you can still get the fluid gauge from yamaha, got one last month for about four dollars.
