  • A little tip for idle setting

A long time ago I heard Prom mention that when he sets the idle screws insted of "lightly seating" them as a starting point, he starts at where the tips are just flush with the inner bore. This seems like a much better approach that won't risk damaging the shape of the needles.

So anyway, I just wanted to pass along some info on this. With the tips flush on al my carbs, its was very close to 1.5 turns out from lightly seated. This gives a good starting point reference with less room for error and no chance of damaging the needles.

HHmmm.. my mind must be going.

Hhmm.. Uhm, no. I don't recall ever stating that.
      Wouldn't have been me.
I will state that care must be exercised when "lightly seating" the pilot screws.(Hence the term: Lightly Seating)
Many carbs, even when properly adjusted, the screw's point can still be felt sticking through the hole. So, starting with it flush would have it backed out too far.
