With a lower CG, it would handle much better than putting a tank on a luggage rack. It you do torque equasions, there should not be any more stress on the frame than a second person.
hey, the tornado sirens are going off. better close the garage

          Cool...

However, I would almost bet there are ordinances about having a fuel cell as a rear bumper...

Also, you do not want to get rear ended! Look like Richard Pryor doing his thing on a motorcycle.

Should wheely a lot easier though...

For me, just can't see where I would ever need the extra capacity. Not planning any jaunts across the Gobi desert any time soon

But then, we canucks have the larger tanks to start with!
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

Only in Canada. There's nothing here like that AFAIK.

There is a company here in the States that has been building an auxillary fuel system for the Kawy Concours that looks very similar to mine...mounted in the same place. They are very popular for the butt burners...no pun intended...wink wink..!

Here's one for an FJR mounted behind the pillion. WOW...what a novel way to get your wife hot and bothered!

Where else would you put and aux fuel tank? Saddle bags (still suject to collision)...fairing...(there too).

Besides ...if I get hit in the ass by some idiot in a cage the impact will kill me long before the flames do. And wouldn't it be ironic if some cager ran over me but the resulting explosion killed him? ..........

Cody, that is a way cool mod that you've done, and it looks quite professional. I would still like to make an aux tank that would fit up under my luggage rack, but right now, I don't have a welder at my disposal, and I don't think I could find a plastic tank shaped to hug the top of the fender, like my prototype did.

Hmm, there may be now, but I don't think there was when Ford built the Pinto....

Apparently that's a poor choice of words John if it results in a fireball.

                        John,

could you 'glass the bottom of the aux tank to fit your fender shape?

"Hmm, there may be now, but I don't think there was when Ford built the Pinto.... "

It's funny how this one stands out, since only 1 model of Pinto had this issue (the hatchback) and almost ALL full sized chevies in the 70's and 80's had the same problem, not to mention the pickups with the side tanks on the outside of the frame!

BTW chevy could have fixed the problem for $8/car, but it was more cost effective to settle the lawsuits...

As for the rear tank, they will wait until there are 2 million on the road, one guy will get rear ended, causing death by fireball, and then they will ban the other 1,999,999.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

Where is a better place for a couple gallons of highly flamable liquid,
out back, behind you or between your legs??
