      resurrecting an old tread

This question is to Bug,did you ever have the tabs for left side cover machined? Mine's been broken since i've owned it,and i'm living on borrowed time before I lose it,NOW is the time to fix it.Thanks. I printed put the nice drawing your dad did, and can bring it to a machine shop, but if somebody can do it on here,i'd rather give them the money.

        Not Cheap but great

If you don't mind spending some money to make sure you don't come out to get on your bike only to find your sidecover fell off somewhere Comes with molding mat. and all you need to fix many parts on your bike, metal, striped screws, etc

The kit I rcomended will help you make a complet new tab. It comes with molding kit to help you form the new tab. You will need to do some dremel work and follow the pic's others have provied and it will take some skill, but it will work

I remember he gave a price and said he was putting kits together and was going to post when he was ready. He had a pic of how it looked on his sidecover.

Sorry, I never had them made. I never needed one myself, as I just used superglue and baking soda for mine.

ok,thanks,I was trying to get the anwser to who was making them,I remember someone saying they had a fix for this, but wasn't sure who it was.I wonder if I can get it machined per the spec's ,maybe out of aluminum and find a way to attach it to the ear? or does it have to be plastic? I was thinking, machined out of aluminum, affix it to tab by small machine screws, and just touch up heads of machine screws with touch-up paint. I know a guy with a machine shop, not sure of the cost or complexity of the job.Next week I will go see him about this project.

The project has been stalled due to not being able to get them powder coated. I can make them but at this time they would be bare aluminum.

I didn't know that someone had made a dimensioned drawing. Using that, I could probably make a replacement lock tab. It would be aluminum and attach with the same screw as the repair I was working on. Let me know if anyone is interested.

I will have a go at making a new tab, if you want to wait a week or two. The price would probably be the same as the repair kit we talked about.
