The coolest fairing ever!

Where if anywhere can I get a full or half fairing that looks like this? This thing is gorgeus! add a hole for a 7" headlight and it would be perfect!

Make one out of fiberglass. A lot of homebuilt aircraft owners build engine cowlings out of fiberglass. They block up foam around the engine and shape it. Then its just the process of laying up fiberglass cloth over the foam. Remove the foam and make a mounting bracket and you have your fairing.

that fairing does'nt have a headlight because it is stationary!....Fiberglass is easy, just time consuming....

Hi Chop, I used to work with that stuff. It ain't worth the hassle for a one-off. To make an FRP product that don't look like a 5th grader's papier mache project needs an external mold with a perfect surface finish for starters. The fibers get in your lungs and the fumes give you liver cancer unless you are using top of the line protective gear.

Thats a La Parisienne fairing I'm told, it the same as the fairings used on the MadMax Z1's and I've been after one for a while now, pity I'm over here or I would have loved to take that off you.

he bike in the first pic is a Yamaha TZ Racer from the mid '70s. I think it is a 350?
Race bikes use up a lot of fairings, So if you can find someone who makes replica fairings for racers (and has done for a long time!) they will have a mould!

However, that is a SMALL fairing, built narrow enough for a 350 two-stroke twin, and low enough for clip-on handlebars; By the time you have fitted a headlight and stretched it to fit an XS1100 you will be well-practiced in the arts of fibreglass!

Yep,very close tothe La Parisienne except for the rectangular headlight. However, this one

is a correct replica LaParisienne, also sitting in my workshop. Was going to send this to a guy in Germany but the postage was astronomical.

If your interested, I hear there is a guy in aussie making a mould to make a few Goose fairings. He has quite a few interested parties in the states and rumour has it that sombody over there will be a central contact point.

I can put you on to them if your interested.

How about something like the fairing on this duc? Easier? Maybe with bar end mirrors instead?

FRP one-offs

Hi Casey,
that Duc fairing is a single curve, an easy shape to make. Here's what I think would work to easily make a single FRP part without building a mold first. Get yourself a sheet of expanded aluminum, mebbe 22ga with perhaps 1/4 x 3/4 diamond openings. That stuff can be pounded into a 3D shape quite easily. Once you are happy with the shape, glass over it both sides and there is your fairing. I'd use boat cloth or woven roving rather than random mat because they give a better surface. Automotive paint works fine for a finish.

That crap is bad for you. Research protective gear before you start.
Google "carcinogens - styrene monomer - health hazards" to scare yourself into buying the very best breathing mask.

Thanks for the offer but I'll have to say no thanks.

I have sent an old Dunstall fairing from here (UK) to California once, never again, the cost was huge, so I would imagine the cost to import would be the same.

I'm building a rat-bike for as little cash as I can so have given up trying to find a La Parisienne for a few quid
