  • spare oil drain plug anyone?

My buddy (will call him mike because that's his name) torqued the oil drain plug on my 1979 XS1100F standard with the fury of a thousand jungle beasts several weeks ago while "helping" me with an oil change. Since finally getting my carbs dialed in I decided today to change oil due to copious amounts of gasoiline that leaked into the bottom end during the carb fettling process.
needless to say I totally destroyed the drain plug (still trying to get it loose) prolly get an EZ out next time I go to the big city. Does anyone have a plug laying around that is not jaggedly round they might bear to part with? or where I might locate one?
reamed out the oil drain plug I did....sigh......

found one at partsnmore.com I bought two, a new set of mirrors,
some crap and some other crap and met my 35.00 quota. What a great site! They get a lot of my dosh, $38.00 to $43.00 at a clip. Suffice it to say I am well stocked with oil filters and other somewhat necessary crap!

I know you wanted a nice shiny new one.

As a temp job just to get you up and running try a spark plug as a drain plug, I think they're the same size.

Oh and a spark plug fits in the steering stem also, so I guess the steering stem bolt would go in the drain plug hole

So tell me...do you have spark plugs screwed in all over your bike? I am getting strange thoughts here!

I've got 4 screwed in......................the spark plug holes

On my Rat-bike project I'm using Kwak Z1000 forks and bottom yoke which is bored out to take an XS stem, I've made a top yoke and needed a stem bolt so made one out of stainless steel.

When setting up my lathe for screw cutting I had to find out the pitch so I tried all sorts of threads I had lying around, a spark plug fitted perfectly.

I know it was probably a useless piece of info but you never know
