    Not too shabby for a 23 year old bike. Looks like you dropped off a little at 6000. Got any plans to improve that?

    Living out here in the woods, there are no nearby dynos, would like to someday do that though. How many sheckles do you have to put out for that?

      Not sure yet what I'm going to do. I know that #2 is running rich, so work on that first. Plugs look ok except for #2.

      A local dealer had sale today with dyno runs for $20.00.
      Can't remember the make of bike, but had nitrus, put out 254 hp.

        Hey Gary,

        Just curious, was this a one gear run thru the band, or did it involve shifting gears?? I would think it would be like a one gear roll on, what gear was used.....1st?

        Now, after looking at it closer, looks like there were two runs documented, one where the torque dropped off around 6K, but the other where the torque kept building up to 7.5K and then held even. I would think that the second one might have been a higher gear where the engine would have been able to keep pulling against the tire instead of peaking out??

        Noted that the scale started at 3krpm instead of near idle of 1K ??

          One line is HP, the other is torque. You can read the two 'Y' axes, the left it HP, the right is Torque. Looks like a one-gear run.

          I did not notice the 3K RPM start. Maybe because there isn't much at there below 3K? Otherwise the scale is off.

          80HP and 63 ft.lb at the rear wheel I think is pretty good.

            FWIW, note that where the two lines cross is 5252rpm. The torque starts out higher. Since HP is calculated from the torque, and the higher the rpm, the more HP, the HP line is the one that is higher after 5252rpm.

            Nice looking torque curve, in that it is relatively flat.

            See how as the torque drops off, the hp flattens as the rpm goes up? Max hp from 7krpm til redline, cool.

            Don't know about Gary's run, but it's usually in top gear.

            Torque is what we feel seat of the pants, and the torque curve shows how the XS really feels strong when you get to 5krpm

              I recalled reading something about that 5252 point. Found it:

                Mike , you are correct, the run was done in 5th gear. There were about 20 people around the dyno when they started my bike and every body moved back, in case it came apart. But no problems other than a little bit of blue smoke at top rpm. Bike sounded real good from 5,000 up.

                          Pre = before
                          Varicator = very much quicker

                          Bandit gets there first!
