I thought Dennis Kirk carried these, but a search pulls nothing up. There is a set from an XJ on ebay right now:

I've seen these much stronger crash guards after going down..and they do get messed up...the one you posted I wouldn't trust to even hold my feet up!

Also, you would need clamp on foot pegs.



There is another similar style crashguard that has another bar connecting the U of the above pictured bar, making it even stronger.

The ones I posted, that Merriam carries, *should* fit all US XS11's - I am 95% certain the engine mount bolt patterns are identical... though I wouldn't mind if a "guru" posted too

Engine /case guards

I would bet they would fit. I have had an XJ engine in my bike, and currenty a 78 engine resides in the 81Sh, and they both have the case guards on them, and the fit was perfect on each engine/frame.

I have the black 3 bar guards, only my middle bar is horizontal. Anyone else have these? They are indeed much stronger. The PO laid by bike down and it ground the steel down pretty far but they did not bend one bit. They are black and look pretty good. I like them over the chrome ones.

Not only the width, but the lower protection is essential unless you want your engine cases cracked or scratched. That is where mine fall short. They are just barely not low enough. There are scratch marks where the bike has been droped on the bottom of the case cover.

I’ve tested the "3 point guards" several times
Both sides, and the left side a few extra times just for good measure.

And yes the bottom of both covers are not just scratched but have some grooves in em too
Any bars less sturdy and I would have needed a trailer to get bike home.

Those wide chrome ones would be good if you were to drop the bike at a light, or forget to put the kick stand down Might even survive standing next to bike and hitting the start button and watch bike take off by itself for about 5 or 6 feet.

Don't think they would help much when bike is moving tho. Would bend back upon impact and probably do nothing good.

Would like a set a few inches bigger, but only if there the 3 point.

btw, 80G is on it's 3rd set crash bars, second set of turn signals and second head light ring (current ring scratched but just found out my other spare ring in same condition. Exhaust got just some minor damage.

They look like a set of curb feelers. I would doubt there ability to afford much protection for the bike or the rider. The 3 point style is about as stout as you can get. I have the two point style on mine and they tweaked a little on a simple tip over in the driveway. They do look like a comfortable place to put your feet on a long ride though. "Crash" guards are like my helmet, I do not want ever to see if they really work as designed. Though I do know that helmets do work.

Warrior boys (now rides a HD) wife with her new HD recently had her first "real" crash. She had just installed a set of the "hoop" style crash guards. They tweaked pretty good but did save the bike from any serious damage. She survived with her first (but not last) dose of road rash and a bruised ego. She has laid the bike down twice before this "real" crash, but they were low speed tip overs. This prompted the purchase of the crash bars. She is gonna buy another set now.

Pretty much have finished finding the XS limits (and my own) and seldom try pushing further. Then agin while all "tests" were my fault most were just wrong place, wrong time, bad tires and/or twisting right hand a little to much. The hot rod with it's moded suspension will go thru a corner rock solid compared to my G.

Have all the parts to make the G look almost new agin but want to get the MNS done first and it’s a slow process right now
