Starter Motor Grounding Tip

The XS starter motor achieves it's ground to the engine case via the two rear mounting bolts, but the bolts are insulated by the plastic starter cover. Poor engineering.

To provide a better electrical connection, I've notched out the plastic cover at the lower hole. Using a lockwasher under the bolt gives the bolt a good 'bite' into the metal of the starter housing. Now the bolt and threads provide a solid electrical connection to the engine housing.
