  • carb question...almost there

what would make the # 2 exhaust header burn so HOT it glowed while the other three are fine. some intermittent popping of the # 2 cylinder but otherwise running fine. cleaned and flushed carbs for third time today. No float valve leaks or anything to indicate burning to rich on #2 versus the others. I've never encountered this type of carb hoo doo before. any and all help appreciated. The "Shaft" got the best of me today.

    #2 is lean... really lean.

Check for air leaks at the manifold. Pull the carbs again.

Sure, I was lean once... so maybe I've put on a few pounds, but a "Big Ham-ass?"

I agree with the lean carb/boot. I saw a chevy 350 header pipes glow red because of exhaust valves adjusted wrong. Rule out the carbs first. Might check valve lash. I wouldn't ride it till you get that fixed or you will burn the valve.
