  • i need parts

i just bought a 79 special in good condition but it does need some stuff done. i need both right and left side headers if anyone has some. also i need the xs eleven special badge that goes onthe right side cover. and any info on converting the lights to led would be appreciated. i know i will lose my self-cancelling feature but i would like the brighter lights. and any other mods that you guys know about that could be beneficial to me i would appreiciate. i plan on having this bike ready to ride to sturgis this year so i need to get busy. thanks.

      Hey Steve,

For Parts requests, it is requested that you post them in that FORUM.

If you'll go to the MAIN FORUM PAGE, and then scroll down to MODS, you'll find threads about LED conversions, brake and turn signals.

Watch Ebay for exhaust systems, but just headers are kinda hard to find. Might do better with a new set, you'll probably want to get the 4-2 style in chrome, with turnouts for SOUND, since you are into the Harley crowd....Sturgis!

I can't remember if that company out of Aussie land has the Special badges, doing a search for replicabadges should get you there, they are cast metal, a bit $$, but won't break like the OEM plastic ones!

YoU want to "mod" a SPECIAL???

Notice TopCatGr58 did not mention he has a couple very cool
        "MODS" available.

One is a new style fuse box replacement.
I've got one and they are very cool and easy to install.
        Uses standard car type fuse.

Other mod he has is a spin on oil filter adpter.
This I've not got from him altho just happen to have one from
some parts I got last year. Makes changing filter a breeze....

If you search through this site you can find every thing from fuel injection to chain drive mods.........
