    carburetors

Does anybody know a source for replacement rubber connectors that join the carbs to the block? (the black pieces in between each carb and the intake side of each cylinder) I have a 1980 XS 1100G and I suspect there are cracks and air leaks in those rubber manifold thingies so I want to replace them. My XS runs pretty good but it pops and runs rough a bit when cold and I suspect it's sucking air someplace. Does Yamaha still stock those or another source I could look? Thanks.

Look in ebay...there are new ones listed all the time for around $100. A really quick fix is to wrap them tightly with elecrtical tape, and get four thermostat gaskets for an old Ford Pinto 2.3L engine, They have the correct bolt pattern, and will need just a little trimming. Use them between the boots and the head.

            I suspect

Most likely cracks don't go thru. (it's got an inner wall)
Can just fill cracks w/rtv, let sit over night.
Use "streathy" type electrical tape, wrap from under one clamp to other and back. from a few feet away will look good and cost zip.

runs rough a bit when cold
Most likley not firing on all cylinders?
            May have enricher circut issues.....

Or could be something totally different
