Yamaha likely changed to the "pop" on type after too many with slots had the thin part on the inboard side break off. Myself I have 2 good covers now but as insurance I will bond to the upper area where the slots are a thin piece of alloy and cut the slots through it to match the factory locations. I intend to use PL6000 adhesive for the job. The plan is that the alloy will take the pressure of the rubber grommets and the plastic will not get broken.

Well written, XSRIK !! ..... LMAO ... enjoyed the read ... very entertaining. No young kids around but I know a few Moms ~ and even the whereabouts of a few swingsets. I'll check 'em out for spares .... like I said though, another member has come up with a set and I'm very happy about it.

Rob, good idea on the reinforcement .... I'm not familiar with that adhesive you mentioned. Does it dry hard like epoxy or softer like latex caulk?

        Flea bay

        Steve,
Just saw some covers on e-bay yesterday for a special, two sets actually. One set was red with good looking badges even....

PL6000 is a very strong multi propose adhesive that sticks anything to anything. It's a poly urethane I think. It's pretty cheap stuff at about 6 dollars for a 300 ml tube. It's used for construction. Once it sets the only way to remove it is with a grinder :-)
