diffrent coil sizes? & extra CDI IGNITION socket ?

the bottom are NGKs



on the old wiring harness did not have a extra socket for the CDI IGNITION
this one does?

Hey Midnight,

First, you need to edit your profile or signature to include the EXACT Year and Model of your bike. Your handle says 80Midnite, but have you verified that with your VIN #?

Secondly, what are the item #'s on the replacement coils, do they have the 2H7 prefix, or 4H7?

The Ignition box is a TCI, not a CDI. What is your new harness supposed to be from? There are only 2 plugs for the TCI's either, 78-80, as well as the 81. The 82XJ also uses just 2 plugs for the TCI, but it has another plug for the Vacuum sensor since it doesn't have a vacuum advance pot on the timing plate.

For this matter, what is the model 3 on your TCI?

You said the old coils were NGK?? The ones I've seen are HITACHI. Your connectors on the old ones don't look OEM, but the ones on your replacements DO look like the proper plugs!

i just tryied to start it up and i cant even get the starter too too turn over.. rear light comes on and the igintion light comes on thats it.

i just bought a 3rd wiring harness and its is supposed too be off
a 1980 xs and its is different then all the others and still not correct??

Midnight, i bought a spare wiring harness from somebody a while back.He said it was from a 1980 XS1100SG, but looking at the harness i dont think so.No red/white wire for the coils and some other missing wires.The guy is getting a call today.
