  • carb as always

    getting good at this with you alls' help. Now to perfect things, up for the challenge??! I have got two identical '79 xs1100SFs

    One runs just superbly excellent and the other runs great execept for the following:

    tweeked the carbs; runs outstanding above 3000-3500. as i throttle back in any gear and run at below the above rpms, there is heisitation and sort of a sputter; then, when accelerating there is faltering lag.

    smells a tad rich but plugs are looking good.

    foats are at 25.7 or so, mains are 137.5; idle screws at 1.25 turns. idles beautifully; heat range all the same

    SO, what is up next????????

    Thanks y'all

    DO you have any air intake mods or 4 into 1 pipes or open headers? if so you may want to go up a size on the mains. How about a carb sync? It sounds like it is runnin rich to me?

      Chakli;

      Have you cleaned the carbs?

      I'd suspect the pilot circuits are dirty. Also check for vacuum leaks at the intake boots and the advance hose.
