Xs11 cams don't come on until 3 grand, especially on 78's, idle to 2500 grand is sensitive and touchy area to tune, there's a backdraft coming thru the carbs until the overlapping inlet/outlet valves 'gel' at the 3 grand mark, smooth fuel delivery and perfect balance needed with non-sticky slides, slides gotta be rising/responding smooth and even at those low revs, and no airbox/filter/intake problems, in the perfect world, setting the carbs as per stock would get the bike running as per brand new factory, 28 years of wear and tear unbalances things, also there'll be HOWLS of protest here, but ditch the inlines and see what happens, ya never know, ya can always slam em' back in if no change, yeah that idle to 2500 grand area is a sensitive one, don't be scared to tweak and experiment with different carb settings, good luck.
