Here's one that I won on ebay after finding out this particular size is discontinued:

It clearly is marked 2 pieces for the identical part number and has both halves...

      Snow,

According to the Yamaha fiche, the halves are sold seperately. The fiche notes that you'll need eight halves to complete the rods.

Do you need any more bearings? I have some if you should. What color would you need?

I also have the complete set of bearings. Won it on fleabay a little while ago. I plan on using the set for winter project, but I can dole some out to get another XS running. I have the set of 8 bearings of each color. PM me if you need any.

Thanks for the offers guys, I might just take you up on it after I get my #3 rod back from the machine shop Monday (left it on the piston when I thought I might be able to reuse the pistons).

So, it seems that I misread the almost legible numbers on the rods. Today I plastigaged into their respective places on the crank after noticing that the bearings are stamped with a code on the rod side... come to find out 3 of my 4 sets of bearings are the same size and they are D7K. The fourth is D8B. After plastigaging, the 3 D7Ks turn out to match the -40 which is also stamped D7K. The fourth is D8B but it also is within specs for the -40, though it is near the loose end of the scale.

So, now I find that I have:
              2F3-11656-20-00 x3
              2F3-11656-30-00 x2
              2F3-11656-10-00 x2

              And I need:
              2F3-11656-40-00 x6 (Yellow)

Anyone want to trade a few?

DiverRay has got me covered - he's going to ship me the 6 I need and I'm going to ship him back the 7 that I've got.

Hi, I'm rebuilding the engine a bit. Got the cylinders slightly honed and it looks like I can put new standard rings on and it will be just at the wear limit. Cheaper than Wisco.

Anyway, the bike has 40k on it. Should I be worried about the bearings? I was planning on not even taking the rods off when I split the case to clean some things. (and look for my timing chain master link )

If it was my engine, I would check rods and main bearings, as long as I had it that far apart. If you use platigauge, it's only about one hour to check everything. Then you know if you need to replace something, or if your good. I just like the peace of mind. Don't forget to replace the springs in the starter clutch!! after almost 30 years, I know they are probably in need.
