  • Wiseco Overbore kit

    Hi All,
I've just purchased a Wiseco K1196 74.5mm Piston kit which will give the old girl a capacity of 1196cc. It was cheaper to get this kit than get Yamaha items so I had to have it.
Has anyone any experience of fitting this kit and what size carb jets did they end up fitting?

Big Bore kit and carb jets.

      Hey there Mike,
I put the 1179 kit in mine, an 81SH, running Indy filters, and old 4-1 pipes, floats are around 20-21mm height, had stock 110 mains, went to 117.5 and have good color on plugs.

The big bore kit will give you more compression, mine measures at 180psi, = 12.25 : 1 ratio, so I run 93 octane instead of regular.

If you are running stock breather and pipes, you may not need to re-jet at all!?!?

Strom, the kits usually come with pistons, wrist pins, wrist pin keepers, rings, head gasket. No cylinders, but you can get them if you need them. Maximum stock overbore is 72.5mm, so with these pistons, you are thinning your sleeves a bit more, but unless you had catastrophic damage to your stock ones, you should be able to use them and not get the extra sleeves. HTH!?

I've just had stainless 4 - 2 system fitted and the mixture was still ok after fitting it and I'm still using the original air box.
(I forgot to say that my bike is based on the F model)

The compression pressures were all around the 120psi mark the last time that I measured them.

Strom, the kit cost £205 ($300?) in a clearance sale at a local shop and Topcat is right about what's supplied with the kit.

I think they may have all gone but the link to the site is
              http://www.debben.co.uk/cheap.html

It may be worth getting in touch with them to see if they have anymore.
