i have a 79 seat now, the flat type,but i have seen and like the raised back style on the 80 and 81 will this fit on my 79 standard frame????

i heard you had to move the ignition unit that is stuck on your rear fender to your inner fender, and the sides of the 80 seat come down lower, touching the 79's side covers, which are bigger and shaped differently,
those covers are mounted on different tabs that are welded to the frame, so the change to side covers are problematic.

what about the side covers for a 79 special will the seat work with them???? i just think they look better with the sissy bar i have.....my other bike it wont matter it is gonna be a 1100 bobber kinda like the pics of frankenbike....Comment

79 special side covers will not fit a 79 standard frame.79 F full cruiser, stainless brake lines, spade fuses, Accel coils, modded air box w/larger velocity stacks, 750 FD.

I had a seat from an 80 special on my 79. It fit but was tight. Also yes, the sides of the seat fit slightly over the top of the side covers. Didn't break anything. The seat I currentlly have on my SF is a Mustang touring seat. Bought it off Ebay a couple of years ago. Was suppose to fit a 79 but I thing it would better fit an 80. Still covers the side covers as much as the other seat. I've just gotten used to haveing to take the seat off first to get behind the covers.
