  • Valve shim request

Here we go again. Another thread about valve shims. I'm doing the valves on MIYAMI and need ( if my calculations are correct ) 3 265's. Here's what I've got broken down, If I'm wrong, someone correct me.
    #1-intake@.15, has 270, looking for .19, needs 265 ( need )
    #1-exaust@.25, has290, looking for .23, needs 285 ( have )
    #2-intake@.15, has 270, looking for .19, needs 265 ( need )
    #2-exaust@.23, has 290, ( good )
    #3-intake@.17, has 270, ( good )
    #3-exaust@.23, has 290, ( good )
    #4-intake@.15, has 270, looking for .19, needs 265 ( need )
    #4-exaust@.19, has 290, looking for .23, needs 285 ( have )
According to the manual, Intake should be .16-.22; exaust should be .21-.25. If anyone wants to swap 1 for 1, here is what I have
    220-1
    230-2
    250-1
    260-1
    270-4
    275-2
    280-4
    285-1
    290-1
    295-1
    300-1

      And now it's my turn.

      I have:
      (1) 270
      (1) 285
      (1) 290
      (2) 295

      I need:
      (1) 170
      (1) 200
      (1) 245
      (1) 320
      (1) 325

These will get me in the middle of the spec range so there is a small bit of leeway.

      Thanks!!!

Looking at Bike Bandit, they don't list any thinner than 200 or thicker than 320. I may have to go with "close counts".

No matches in my stash, Pat. If all else fails for that thin one, grind a wee bit off the end of the valve stem. Measure it first of course, then take off enough to get you back into range of available shims. This will be easier than trying to evenly grind down a shim.

A 200 in place of the 170 will still have me within spec.
