  • What's it worth?

I am in need of $$ and might be forced to sell my soul or my bike. . It is a 79 xs special. It has a k&g sissy bar on the back and a tombstone tail-light with the skull cover. New grips, New tires+tubes (not even a mile on them), victory vegas mirrors, and only a little over 13k on the odometer. It was totally gone through before the winter. New seals and such. The rubber on the carbs is beautiful. The only thing missing is the left side cover, and it has a pleather seat cover. The tank is clean and everything on it works great. Still has original key.

I'm not listing it in the classifieds because I don't know if I am going to be able to part with it yet. I am just trying to see if you guys can help me figure out what it might be worth. I will post some better pics asap.

    Thanks!!

Sell something that is more easily replaceable. Cars, computers, TV, etc. When your finacial situation gets better, those are easily replaced, unlike the XS.

I saw a new magazine at the book store this weekend!

Vintage Motorcycles. It has a price guide in the back, and I was surprised to see the prices for the earlier models of XS11's and what condition they were in! For a non-runner/partzer, they were suggesting $1000.00! For a fully running operational machine, it was $2-3K easy, and over 4 for immaculately OEM restored!?!? YMMV!

Hope you find another way to make ends meet other than selling your XS!

            "Hey, knock it off!"

T.C., quit jacking the price up for me, will ya?
It's an old bike and he wants to sell it.
He can sell it if he wants... or just rent it to me for the last two weeks of August.

              Sort of on topic

Decent looking '79 XSSF on the bay.

                Im over it.

I spent the better part of my afternoon today breaking a path through six inches of ice so that I could take her out on the street today. It was 55 degrees and I couldn't hold it in any longer.

It was magical. There's no way I can sell her. Those collections agents can kiss my ass. I'll pay 'em when I'm good and ready! The bike stays with me until I can't ride it anymore for more legitamate reasons.

Thanks for the help. And thanks to this site. I like it a-lot.

                  Hey Kurt,

If you have several collection agencies hounding you, you might do well to get ahold of a credit assistance agency, debt assistance, etc.! They can have them put a hold on the debts, the accruing interest, arrange for lower payments, and get them OFF YOUR BACK! Might be worth looking into!? Good Luck!

I hear the brake rotor rubs, anyway!"

Glad to hear you're keeping it.

Yeah, it's just one and its from an apartment that I had five years ago. They were nice enough not to send anything until now.

                      Prometheus, sorry.

Glad to hear that you have realized that your sanity sometimes stems from a better source than satisfying your creditors. Never let anyone take away the things which are really important in your life. I am speaking from experience. Sorry to get all philosophical, but the advice was hard earned.
