Where does this part go?

I removed the gas tank, plug wires, and valve cover to adjust the valves. When I put everything back together, I had this cable clamp(?) left-over and can not remember where it goes. I own a 1980 XS1100G Standard. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

huh, never seen one of those before. Must be a Standard-only-part

That is for your throttle cable it attaches on the back side of the valve cover middle allen head bolt and keeps the cable in line with the carb holder for the throttle cable. Looks like it's bent to the side alittle.

It goes on the valve cover, in back. It holds the throttle cable in place. Look at the blow-up in the Yamaha parts catalog, and you should be able to see the location.

Hell, if you do it often enough, the parts themselves know where to go. Kinda like an old horse always knows his way home. My 81's carbs have velcro holding them on, it seems. Wildkat can have them off in about 10 minutes, and they just jump back into place when the time comes.
