Seafoam

Hi there

Have been reading a fair amount about 'Seafoam' here and elsewhere.

It looks pretty interesting and would like to try some out on my various projects, but I can't find anywhere in Canada that sells it?

Is there anyone from Canada here that has been able to find Seafoam locally?

Where I am the only big auto supply stores are Canadian Tire and UAP/Napa, and neither show it as a product.

Try to find Berryman's B12 Chemtool. It is very close to seafoam, but may be more readily available in Canada. Seafoam is usually found in marine supply stores, if all else fails.

A couple of guys on a Ford forum based out of Canada were hashing this out a couple of months ago, I went back and dug the thread out.

Heres a couple possible locations, not sure how close to you, but its better than nothing.

Other options....

Edmonton - There is an auto parts store on Argyle and 83 st that has a sign outside saying they sell it, and possibly napa in edmonton.

Auto Value, city/location unknown.

Im with Ray also, Berrymens B12 is the equivalent to it, so that may be a possibilty as well

I bought mine from my the local NAPA store. They dont show it on their website but I asked when I went in and they had it on the shelf

Actually no Toulene in it at all...

PALE OIL 40-60%
NAPHTHA 25-35%
IPA 10-20%

Pretty sure the 'Naptha' is a typo and no idea what IPA is.


Thanks for the info. I tried the Napa Website, and as you mentioned it doesn't even know what Seafoam is.

I will pop by there one of these days and ask.

Hey, craz, I bought Seafoam from my Napa store here in Revelstoke. If you don't find it there, get some of your buddies who come over this way snowmobiling to pick some up for you.

naptha

Naptha is generic for a wide range of petrol hydrocarbons including toluene. The stuff smells like Toluene. The IPA is short for ISOPROPYL-Alcohol. That stuff in your medicine cabinet. Pale oil I have never heard of.....

They likely have to hide the Toluene, since I think it's banned in most stuff these days, Carcinogenic, I think.

A few facts:
Toluene- Aeromatic Hydrocarbon- VERY CARCINOGENIC. Dont breathe the fumes at all. Its not like you are going to be sniffing it or the exhaust fumes so you will probably be ok. You know that stuff Goof off, it is made from toluene and zylene. YOu could probably achieve the same results with just toluene, xylene, mineral spirits, mek, pure gasoline(no ethanol), and some kinda oil/ lubricant. I don't know what the rest does. If you ran a can of sea foam in a full tank, you would raise your octane a few points too. In general, most of these products are the same stuff. I can speak for the power of sea foam on many occasions. It is great for cleaning catalytic converters and decarboning intakes and cylinders. MMO is just as good in its own class, if not better IMHO
