crash bars
Is there any difference in the mounting of crash bars between the standard and the special? I'm asking because I found a pair of the large one piece bars but the person says they are for a special.

They should fit, but I will NOT say yes 100%. If the mount points are the engine mounts, then yes, if they mount some other way, then maybe not. The frames are almost identical, with the majority of the differences in the seat/rear area of the frame.Ray Matteis

I agree, If they mount to the lower engine mounts and are secured to the top of frame by u-shaped clamps should work on all xs1100's. I also have an extra set if anyone needs one. PM pleaseComment
