  • Exhaust Mod-Adapter Source?

I have tried to locate a source (local or internet) that has the 1 3/4" ID to 1 3/4" OD adapter to put the Harley mufflers on. None of our local muffler shops have anything that small and I haven't been able to find any when searching on the net. Anyone know of a source?

Two options. Try a farm supply place. many tractors have smaller exhaust diameters and I've found parts and pieces at Farm and Fleet, a midwestern chain.

OR you can call around to a shop that makes up their own muffler systems using a hydraulic bender. They can take a piece of tubing and either shrink or stretch the ends to the right diameters. A bit more pricy, as you will pay for their time, but is quick and clean, and you get exactly what you need. They usually have some pieces of tubing lying around and it only takes a few minutes to do the work. Have exactly what you need, ID, OD, and length when you go into the shop.

For a really neat joub you could take in your pipes or muffler and have the work done directly on them, eliminating the adapter entirely. Recommend working on the mufflers rather than the head pipes if possible.

Great idea using the muffler shop but if you just want an adapter you can get them at MikesXS. Just go to www.650motorcycles.com and you will see MikesXS. I bought a pair of them but haven't installed the HD muffs yet.

        Re: Exhaust Mod-Adapter Source?

I got mine from Autozone. They were not slotted to fit clamps, however. they were made for welding. I had to slot them.
