Hot Voltage Regulator

I'm having a problem with the idle after warming up. Runs great, and idles nicely until it warms up. I noticed the voltage regulator is pretty warm. Is this normal, or should I investigate further?It has cooling fins ,so I assume it is suppose to get warm. Any comments?

Warm is okay - should be able to leave your hand on it. Yes, the heat sink is there to dissipate heat.

Could you describe your idle problem with a little detail?
