  • vaccuum advance?

Okay this idling thing is killing me!! I kept turning my idle screws out to get it to idle without surging but when I was doing that I noticed that the idle wouldn't just hang but it would climb and bounce, so I was thinking [I hate when I do that] it must be caccuum so I disconnected the vaccuum advance and plugged it up and I could get it to idle at 1100 where I want it . I also found a leak in my #2 carb boot. Is my vaccuum advance bad too?
Thanks for all of the help

It looks like you've found the main source of your problem - the leaking carb boot. Get that fixed before you worry too much about anothing else or you'll just be going around in circles. Your vacuum advance will probably turn out to be okay, but you won't know till the boot is fixed/replaced.

Would a leak in just one boot cause it to not idle????
Thanks again for all of the help

        Oh yeah . . . 25% of your engine is running on unknown mixture . . . screwed fuel delivery . . .

I was able to cure cracked leaking boots with high temp black RTV silicone spread thin all over it. Let it cure before cranking up the bike. Looks kinda bad, but beats $120.00 or so for a new set if you can find them.

I agree on fixing this before dealing with the advance. That might just be a connection or hose issue.
