    hello all
    i have completely disassembled my
transmission and now have all these oily parts in front of me, my question is how do i check for bent shift forks. i have one broken tooth on second gear but everything else seems to be normal. the problem originally was the bike was acting like it was in two gears at once. the rear would drive spin in nuetral and i couldn't shift into more than two gears up and one down. Now i have it all apart and the shift drum, shift forks, and shifter assy look normal. how out of whack
do the forks have to be. There's no info in the service manual.
    help.

Check for XSive wear on the tines of the forks. they should be straigh apart from some offset left right up down depending on the fork. my thoughts, if you suspect them replace them. I had one brake at low speed, scared the hell out of me. I can see whereas if someone was going really fast and broke one, it could get fugly . so if there is an issue, get a replacement set and install them better safe than sorry...or worse. good luck, hope this helped

      xs1100 transmission.

Good morning, I am just stripping down a parts bike, Will have the transmission out of it in a bit. Was a running motor will average care and maintenance. Usually sell a complete transmission for $80.00 that includes shipping by US priority mail. By complete I mean, shift, drum, shift forks, starter clutch, all gears and countershafts, shifter assembly etc etc. just apart enought to take out of engine case. In case you need to buy some parts. I prefer not to sell pieces of a trans as I end up with to much misc stuff laying around. PM or e-mail to andreashweiss@yahoo.com good luck on the repair ..andreas
