Click "specifications" left side of your screen.
    Go to "serial Numbers"
    _________

Posting a "apiucture" could be difficult, never had one of those before

Go to photobucket.com (or server where your picture is stored)
Free to use above, follow instructions to open an account and upload a pic.

After uploaded, look below pic. 3 small one line windows.
    Third one"IMG"..........
Just right click/copy this one (including the "IMG" parts in window.
Paste in post here. Pic will show in your post.

      Hey Sandy,

Not sure how much knowing the year will help you since it's already an XJ! They were only made for 1 year in the US in 82. They were made a couple more till 84 in Canada, but from what I've heard, there isn't really any difference mechanically from the earlier model to the later!

BUT, if it's an XS11, then there are more differences, and the exact year/model # is more critical!

        Sandy,

Top Cat is quite right on all his info.

I personally own both an 82 and an 84 XJ1100. My owners manual for the 84 shows it as XJ1100L as opposed to the 82 XJ1100J. There is absolutely no difference between the two.

If the picture you attached is actually your bike then it is an XJ vice an XS. The XS didn't have the rectangular adjustable handlebars nor the "Maxim" sidecovers.

        She certainly looks good.......

          MRO,
I thought that bike looked a little too clean to be one of yours!

Had just wiped of daily ride.
Rained that afternoon (last week) and rode anyway. Have yet to clean it agin. Maybe this rain will be hard enough to rinse it off
