I added a fork brace (TKAT) to Zilla a year ago. It helped but the improvement wasn't radical.

However ...like TC said...the XJ has a built in fork brace. SO the inprovement was modest.

However about 4 - 6 months ago I totally rebuilt my front end...new inner tubes from Franks...Progressive Springs...and added a steering stabilizer to the TKAT...

WOW WOW WOW...huge improvement all the way around.

The fork brace is a conductor. It allows gravity to flow equally in both legs of the fork, balancing both compression (excess gravity) and rebound (gravity depletion). The TKat fork brace is a direct connect, whereas the older style tube type brace takes a more curcuitous path, slowing down the flow of gravity and thereby causing small deviations in the gravity flux side-to-side. With a rapid flow of gravity flux, the front wheel maintains better contact with the ground and the motorcycle maintains a much steadier course through a curve. Try one, you'll never go back.

I had a fork brace that clamped round the top of the fork slider, never noticed any improvement in handling.

What I did notice was when I had a slight accident and the forks took a slight knock the top part of the fork slider that the brace grips snapped off both sliders, when examining the remains it's obvious that this is where a lot of machining is done for the dust covers and the fork seals, in particular the fork seal circlip grove, this thins the thickness of the aluminium to around 2mm

I replaced the sliders and would not fit another brace unless it was the type that fit on the mudguard lugs, the bent tube type.

One comment made earlier was that the original mudguard works well, I agree, I use a fibreglass mudguard now and can notice the difference.
